Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs?

A vibrant and inclusive mainstream Primary School in Newham is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join their team from September 2025. The school is looking for both long-term staff and bank staff to support across a range of settings.

These roles are offered through Destination Education, a specialist education recruitment agency working in close partnership with schools across London and the surrounding counties. We are currently supporting this Newham-based school in finding high-quality SEN support staff for the new academic year.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with additional needs, either:

  • Within the mainstream classroom, providing 1:1 or small group support
  • Or in the school’s dedicated SEN resource provision, where pupils receive tailored, structured support in a smaller setting

You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and other support staff to ensure each child receives the attention and strategies they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support for pupils with EHCPs or identified additional needs
  • Assist with personal care and emotional regulation when required
  • Support learning across core subjects through adapted resources and techniques
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress and behaviour to the SEN team
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies and therapists, where appropriate

What we’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN (e.g., Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language, SEMH, etc.)
  • A patient, resilient, and flexible approach
  • A passion for inclusion and supporting all learners
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential)

The School Offers:

  • A welcoming and supportive staff team
  • Ongoing CPD and training opportunities
  • A well-resourced SEN provision and inclusive ethos
  • Opportunities for long-term roles or flexible bank work depending on your availability

If you are interested in the role or would like to find out more information then please forward your CV and cover letter to Harrison at Destination Education. If you're looking to make a real impact in a supportive Newham school and you're available from would love to hear from you.
