Salary: £95 – £110 per day (dependent on experience)

About the Role

Destination Education are seeking passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a vibrant and inclusive Primary School in Islington. This is a class-based role, supporting children with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Speech & Language Difficulties, and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

You’ll be working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver high-quality support within the classroom, helping pupils access the curriculum and develop essential life and learning skills. Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN within the classroom
• Adapt learning activities and materials to suit individual needs
• Implement strategies from EHCPs (Education, Health & Care Plans)
• Support the teacher in managing behaviour using positive reinforcement techniques
• Encourage independence, communication, and social skills through structured activities
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals such as therapists and educational psychologists
• Promote inclusion and emotional well-being across the school community

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience supporting children with SEN, ideally within a school setting
• Calm, patient, and adaptable approach to learning and behaviour
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Passion for making a difference in children’s education and development
• Relevant qualifications or training (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, PECS, or Makaton) are desirable but not essential
