Job Advert: Careers Education & Guidance Lead (3 days per week) (IMMEDIATE START!)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and forward-thinking professional to lead and develop a high-quality careers education and guidance programme within a dynamic secondary school setting in East Ham.
We are seeking an individual who is passionate about supporting young people to make informed decisions about their futures and who can drive a strategic vision for careers provision across the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, design, and deliver a comprehensive careers education and guidance programme
  • Ensure alignment with national frameworks, including the Gatsby Benchmarks
  • Organise and coordinate large-scale careers events, employer engagement activities, and enrichment opportunities
  • Provide guidance and support to students on a wide range of post-16 and post-18 pathways, including apprenticeships and alternative routes to university
  • Work collaboratively with staff, external partners, and stakeholders to enhance work-related learning opportunities
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of careers provision

Person SpecificationEducation and TrainingEssential:

  • Degree (or equivalent qualification)

Desirable:

  • Qualification(s) in Careers Leadership or Guidance (e.g. Level 6 Certificate in Careers Leadership; Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development) or a relevant coaching qualification

ExperienceEssential:

  • Previous experience in careers education and guidance
  • Experience of working with young people/students
  • Experience of organising large-scale events

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting apprenticeship applications
  • Understanding of GDPR regulations
  • Experience using SIMS and analysing data
  • Experience leading extra-curricular clubs and events

KnowledgeEssential:

  • Strong knowledge of the Gatsby Benchmarks
  • Up-to-date understanding of career pathways for young people, including alternatives to undergraduate study
  • Awareness of current issues in education
  • Understanding of work-related learning and a clear vision for promoting these opportunities

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of labour market information and progression routes into further and higher education
  • Understanding of work experience frameworks
