About the Role

Destination Education is currently working with a range of welcoming and supportive mainstream primary schools across Walthamstow and the surrounding areas, and we are expecting a variety of exciting SEN Teaching Assistant opportunities to become available.

We are particularly looking for Teaching Assistants interested in full-time positions, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs within mainstream primary school settings. These roles can involve dedicated 1:1 support, small-group work, and working alongside the class teacher to help pupils access learning and make progress.

We also work on full-time, part-time, and supply opportunities, so if you're open to other options, we'd still love to hear from you. Supply can be a great way to get yourself something fixed, allowing you to experience different schools, build relationships, and potentially move into a longer-term or permanent position.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
• Help pupils access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
• Support pupils with their academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
• Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
• Build strong and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support team.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working with children is desirable.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEN is advantageous.
• Experience providing 1:1 support would be beneficial.
• A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Reliable, adaptable, and enthusiastic about working in education.
• A genuine passion for supporting children and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
